54th Experimental NMR Conference (Pacific Grove, CA)

I attended the 54th Experimental NMR Conference (ENC), at the Asilomar Conference Grounds in Pacific Grove, CA, and spoke about “Hyperpolarized Molecular Sensing and Detection.”

Atomic structure and assembly of an amyloid fibril (Proc. Natl. Acad. Sci. USA 110, 5468, 2013)

We have published the structure of cross-β amyloid fibrils formed by TTR in the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences (). The work was led by Dr. Anthony Fitzpatrick and the authors include three generations of my colleagues, directed and mentored by Robert Griffin and Christopher Dobson. The publication has been reviewed in Physics Today (download: Atomic and […]

Professor Patrick Van der Wel – Studies of amyloid fibrils by solid state NMR

My former colleague, Patrick Van der Wel, visited Berkeley and delivered a seminar, “Investigating amyloid formation mechanisms by studying fibrils by solid-state NMR.” Patrick is a professor in the Department of Structural Biology at the University of Pittsburgh, where he has established a research program that applies solid state NMR to difficult structural targets including insoluble aggregates or proteins within […]
